Sakari Dixon Vanderveer

Sakari is both a violist and a composer. She is a graduate of the University of Redlands, where she studied composition with Anthony Suter. She currently studies composition privately with Reena Esmail. She is active as a performer, violin and viola teacher, and young composer.

Sakari’s piece written for Maya Paredes will be performed on Salastina’s “Sounds Local” concerts April 6 and 7. Her piece for viola and piano, “The Path Laid Before Me,” was premiered by Salastina Young Artist D’aci Knight and Resident Pianist HyeJin Kim on Salastina’s “Sounds Local” concert in June of 2018.

Emily Webster-Zuber

Emily is a sophomore in high school. She studied piano at Colburn with Jee Sung Kang for nine years, and is currently a student of Robert Ward. Last summer, she was invited to Concerto Fest Europa, where she performed the Mozart two piano concerto in Slovakia and Austria with her sister Kaitlin (below). At Colburn, Emily has also studied chamber music, music theory, tap dancing, and choir. Emily is also interested in composition, and is participating in Sounds Promising as a composer as well. Alongside Kaitlin, Emily co-founded the organization Musical Traces

Emily performs alongside tenor Josh Wheeker on Salastina’s “Lost Love” program, February 10 and 11. She also performs her sister Kaitlin’s piece written specifically for her on “Sounds Local,” April 6 and 7.

Kaitlin Webster-Zuber

Kaitlin is currently a freshman at UC Santa Barbara, studying under Dr. Charles Asche. Prior to arriving there, she studied with Jee Sung Kang at the Colburn School. She studies composition privately with Ian Krouse (faculty, UCLA). She and her sister Emily co-founded Musical Traces. Kaitlin’s writing has been featured on the Wallis Annenberg Performing Arts Center’s website. Emily and Kaitlin performed the Mozart double concerto in Bratislava (Summer 2018). Kaitlin is also passionate about music education, and different ways of connecting communities through music. Like her sister Emily, she is also participating in Salastina’s Sounds Promising Young Composers Program.
